East Midlands Divisional Championship

Yesterday I took part in the East Midlands Divisional Road Race Championship. With a high quality field the race was always going to be a tough one.

An early break of three riders went from the start and managed to stay away for the whole race. Throughout the race there were many attempts to establish a chasing group but nothing managed to stick till the last lap. After the second chasing group got brought back, I then went with two other riders for roughly 7 miles until we were caught by the main group. Pressure was being applied and people were getting tired. With 5 miles to go a group of 10 riders managed to escape the main bunch and stayed away till the finish. At the finish line there was a bunch sprint for the remaining places and myself and Phil just missed out. It was a really enjoyable race and I’m beginning to feel back to full strength.
