This weekend I took part in the East Midland Road Race League, promoted by Beeston RC in Derby. The race was held on the same circuit as the East Midland Divisional Champs I contested a few weeks ago meaning I new the course well. The race would be a total of 5 laps of the course making the race distance around 100Km.
During the second lap, myself and Joel Lewis managed to get ourselves into a break of 5. However proving to be unsuccessful we were caught around 2 laps later. At that point a second break was allowed to go, which was to stay away until the very end where only one rider was able to hold off the main bunch which would sprint for 2nd place.
After recovering a little from earlier efforts, I was able to take 5th place on the line. Club mates Ollie Taylor finish 2nd winning the bunch kick, and James Moore finished in joint 3rd place with Carl Dyson making it a great result for the club. The result also means I have managed to retain my 2nd Category Licence for next year making it a very good weekend!
