Yesterday was the another round of the East Midlands Road League which was being hosted by Pedal power of Loughborough. The race was held on the locally well known Harby Hill circuit, and finished at the top of the Harby climb which is 2km long.
If I am honest, I just wanted to ride and enjoy this one without any pressure of performing, and I did. I did not fancy the break, so did not really attempt to get into one throughout the race. Although it was still hard!
A break of 10 formed during the race, and then on the last lap they were joined by five more riders who broke away just after the Harby climb. However almost everybody was caught (much to my surprise) right at the bottom of the Harby Hill just before we went up the climb to finish at the top. The final accent was a tough one, but I managed to get up there and finish 7th!
I was happy to finish in the top 10. It proved to be another good day for Welland Valley CC with James finishing in 6th as well, (also making part of the break making it an impressive result) and Ollie finishing in 17th. A nice way to finish the week.
