This Sunday was the National B Maldon and District Road Race held in Steeple in Essex. A beautiful course with some brilliant back roads to race on was made better with the great weather on the day. It was also the first time I have raced at this level at the is distance since May so I was looking forward to it. Having raced the same event the year before, with many of the same riders there as well I knew it was going to be a hard day.
The first move of the race went on the first lap with 5 riders going up the road. Having tried to get in the move, it proved to difficult to get into, especially once we hit the cross winds. I then found myself back in the bunch, certainly taking some time out to recover for a couple of laps. The race then split again with 2 laps to go after consistent attempts to break away with a large group of riders meaning at the end of the race the top placings were taken. True to season form I however manged to finish and sprint to first in the bunch, which I was very pleased with, even though it was for 24th place 🙂
