Finsbury Park Road Race

On Sunday I traveled down to Essex to ride the Finsbury Park Road Race. The race was contested on the Rickling Green Circuit and was 60 miles long. Starting at 11:30am, we headed off neutralized from the HQ to start the race. Attacks were coming often however nothing was allowed to stick, with the race pace high throughout until the finish. Attempts to get away were also made at the top of the climb after each lap with Riders going for the Prime competition which was eventually won by Freddy Pett.

This meant it came down to a bunch sprint which went up a climb with a long flat section in the middle which was exposed to the wind. I was able to position myself close enough to the front when we hit the climb and was able to keep a good position taking 3rd on the line. It was a great result for the Club with James Moore taking 2nd. The winner was Tim Allen from Corley Cycles. Congratulations to James who now has enough points to gain his 1st Category licence.
