Last Saturday I raced at the MK Bowl once again in the third installment of the series which has been put on by the local clubs. This event was hosted by Team Milton Keynes and once again proved to be a good day out.
The race course was around half the oval, and then was taken outside of the bowl and around the walkways just outside the gates, and then returning to the oval before a climb to the start.
Many attempts were made to cause a split within the race and as many of 12 to 13 of us manged to get a gap. This was closed down after a lap or two however and the race looked like it would come down to a bunch sprint. Just as that look set, 2 riders managed to go clear with a couple of laps to go and managed to hold a small gap until the finish.
Spirit Bikes rider Oliver Barbieri took the win. I was able to take 9th place on the line getting into the top 10. It was also nice to catch up with former club mate Ollie Taylor who is now riding with Wellingborough Cycles, and finished in 4th place.
