On Sunday I traveled down to Chipping Norton to race in the Closed Circuit Crit Series being hosted by Zappi CC. It was once again on the technical 1.2 Km Circuit at the Vision Motorsport Track in Oxfordshire.
After 40 minutes racing it came down to a bunch sprint after nobody was allowed to stay away. Positioning for the finish proved to be hard in the last bends, however I managed to place myself in the top 10 heading into the final corner and was able to take 6th place on the line.
This now means that I have enough points to retain my 2nd Cat Licence for 2017 which was a nice way to finish the weekend. I am also starting on the road next weekend so I am in a fairly nice place to start.
The Zappi Series has been very enjoyable. The organizers are continuing every Sunday until the 3rd April with the possibility of carrying on through the spring if it is successful. The is also Junior Category races being put on which is predominately what the Series is trying to encourage, a 4th Cat only Race and a women’s race every other week plus the 2/3 Race I have been doing which is usually the last at 14:45 making it an accommodating time in the afternoon.
I am now hoping these will stand me in good stead for the Races on the road coming up.
