Last Sunday I traveled to Nottingham to ride on the new Harvey Hadden Race Circuit. It is a new purpose built circuit which is just under a mile long located in a sports village which also includes football pitches and an athletics track with a stadium.
The race was 24 laps long, and took just over 50 minutes to complete. It proved to be a fast race. A break of 3 riders was achieved early in the race, with them making good use of a headwind down one of the long straights. Riders continued to attack with many other small breaks occurring throughout. They were all brought back until around 5 laps to go when 2 riders were eventually able to get clear making a total of 5 riders up the road. More attacks were made during the final laps yet nothing was able to get away. I was able to take 6th place on the line by winning the bunch sprint.
There was a total of 4 races on the day, including 4th Cat only, 3/4 Cat, 2/3 Cat, and 2/3/4 Cat Women only, all of which were held in the afternoon.
