On Thursday I made the trip over to Mallory Park for the first time this year to ride in the evening circuit series hosted by the the Mallory Park Road Race League. It was a beautiful evening, with warm 20 degree sunshine.
After arriving at 6 and signing on I got myself ready for the 7 o’clock start time. The circuit was clockwise around and was to finish by the bus stop, just after the hairpin which made for an uphill sprint with a technical finish.
Throughout the race many attacks were made however it was not until around 40 minutes that a break was allowed to get away which had 4 riders in. They managed to build a decent lead however they were caught inside the last 200m making the race finish a bunch sprint. I took 4th place, Matthew Fostun took the win.
It was also a very fast race, with the pace well over 26mph.
