On Sunday afternoon we travelled to Great Sailing, Essex to contest the Redbridge CC Road Race. Although a warm sunny day, the wind was back and was sure to play a part in how the race played out. Starting at 2pm, it was also an opportunity to get a lye in for the morning before travelling down.
A mainly flat course, the race was scheduled to be just under 80 miles which was 8 laps. With the wind being a big part, a front group established over time through out the race with small groups managing to get over to the front of the race. Still with the main bunch on the last lap, I was unfortunate enough to puncture. With the neutral service car moving to the front group of the race, I was unable to continue.
Despite the puncture it was a great race and very well organised. It was also a good opportunity to get some miles in with over 70 completed before I finished.
