On Sunday afternoon it was the Leicester Castle Classic Kermeese Race held on closed roads in Leicesters City Centre. Arriving an hour and a half before the event I parked up in the King Power Stadium where sign on was and the start finish line. The race was very much like a crit race and long enough to be a Kermeese with a cobbled section around the Leicester Castle which would make for some great racing.
After a warm up lap around the circuit I got to the start line where riders were gathering early to get as close to the front as possible. Starting off I managed to get myself around the middle, however not clipping in quickly cost me a few positions. The race was strung out very early and I decided to try and be patient to try and move up the field. On arrival to the start finish line to complete the first lap I found an ideal opportunity whilst going around the stadium. I managed to move right up back to the middle however as soon as I did I got a puncture which Kent I could not continue. Neutral service was able to provide me with a wheel however the damage was done and I would not be able to make it back into the group so I decided to call it a day.
Still a great event on closed roads. I am hoping for some better luck next time.
