On Thursday it was the final race of the 2016 Mallory Park Series. With the league settled the previous week, the nights format was a handicap race with the first group setting off which contained 4th Category Riders, starting off just over a minute behind was the second group containing 3rd Category Riders and the last group setting off 50 seconds behind containing 2nd Category Riders.
Starting in the last group it was through and off, and at around the halfway point of the race we caught the front of the race. This then opened everything up for attacks which started almost straight away. Nothing was able to stick however until the last few lap when a group of 4 rider managed to get a small gap. In the closing stages another 2 riders managed to bridge over with a lone rider managing to bridge just after making the total number in the break to 7. They were able to get a small gap which was only just maintained until the end of the race.
I managed to come 8th overall winning the bunch sprint and almost catching the back of the break.
Overall it has been a great league to take part in. I am very pleased with the consistency I have shown over the year in this series finishing in 6th place overall and receiving £100 prize money. Hopefully I can take these performances forward.
