Upton Cycling Club Road Race

On Sunday morning I traveled to Upton in North Yorkshire to contest in the Upton CC Road Race. It was a 53 mile Regional A race which consisted of 6 laps of the circuit plus the neutralized section.

On Arrival at the HQ at the Super Flex Gym I signed myself on and got ready for the riders briefing at 09:20 before the race started at 09:30. After the start 4 riders went on the attack from the gun and built a lead up of just over 30 seconds. This however was only to last a few laps as it was rode back by a counter attack, a move which I managed to get in. After this the race broke apart several more times with nothing sticking including a large break I bridged over to on my own just before everything came back together.

It was not until the last lap that a break was able to go with what ended up being a total of 11 riders in 2 groups. This move was able to just make it to the finish with the bunch sprint for 12th. I managed to take 15th from the race. Matthew Williams of Feather Cycles took the win.
