This week I traveled to Darly Moor to ride in the first race of the year held at the circuit. With little wind it was going to be a fast day, especially with this being the first race for a lot of people therefore everyone would be keen.
With a very large peloton, often getting to the front was difficult feeling like most of the time it was like trying to ride through a wall of other riders. With no breaks sticking it came down to a bunch sprint at the finish. The last lap proved hard to get a position for the sprint. Following a crash coming into the final hairpin just before the finish, and myself getting pushed onto the grass just before the bend, I lost a couple of positions coming back onto the tarmac.
I was pleased to take 8th from the race, especially with everything being so difficult at the finish. Bertie Newey of Metalak Racing won the race. As difficult as it was, it was an enjoyable race.
