Last Saturday I was at Redbridge for the Hog (With The Occasional) Hill Series which is being held monthly at the Redbridge Cycle Centre.
I was still a little weary of Thursday night and if I had recovered enough ready for the afternoon race. After a bit of riding though I soon found I was ok however and started to look forward to what was to come. The race was scheduled to have a hill every 15 minutes whilst we spent most of the time on the bottom circuit. The finish was just at the start of the climb which went clockwise around the circuit.
I knew that being close or at the front was important when going up the climb and I made every effort to be there on each lap that it went up there. With the race breaking up at the back, only one rider was able to escape off the front. Liam Walsh of VC St. Rafeal rode to a solo victory. I took 7th place overall in the bunch sprint for 2nd.
Following this race I am going to be taking a scheduled break in the season which I have been looking forward to for a couple of weeks. Hopefully I will be able to come back refreshed ready for the second part of the season.
