Whilst staying in Cheshire over the weekend I took advantage to ride in a summer circuit series round being held at the Salt Ayre Cycle Circuit in Lancaster.
It is a fast circuit and usually a the race always has a high average speed! As soon as we started attacks were underway. Nothing was able to stick however. I ,an aged to get myself into a move which I though would stick, we were however pulled back in after some hard riding. It took a while before another move was allowed to go. Three riders were able to go clear, after this a group formed from ones and two gradually bridging over to eventually make a group of eight following three with myself in the third group on the road. The fast pace continued despite this hover the riders up the road were able to work well to make it stick.
A few laps to go until the finish and the two groups up the road became one with the eight riders catching the front group. This made the bunch sprint for 12th. Knowing it was so fast I tried to get myself to a position at the front as I Kew it would be difficult to make up ground in the sprint. I opened up to early though and was past before the finish taking 17th overall on the line.
Despite this it was a lot of fun and a race I very much enjoyed!
